Dean DeBolt, Secrets of the Archive

Our speaker will be Dean DeBolt, Archivist at the UWF Archives and West Florida History Center. He will present "Secrets of the Archive," where he will cover some of the reasons genealogists should visit archives, even different archives in the same city, what they can expect in services, what they can do if they can't visit in person, and some of the important things that we have in our UWF Archives that can help researchers.

Dean DeBolt is University Librarian/University Archivist at the John C. Pace Library, University of West Florida.  He holds master's degrees in history (University of Illinois at Springfield) and library science (University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana) as well as advanced archives and preservation training from Ohio State University and the Ohio Historical Society.  Dean oversees one of the largest research collections about West Florida and Pensacola, comprising nearly two million books, publications, photographs, newspapers, and personal papers of individuals, families, organizations, and businesses.

Dean is a founding member of the West Florida Genealogical Society and was its first Vice President as well as newsletter editor/publisher for the first years of the Society.
