West Florida Genealogical Society
The West Florida Genealogical Society, a 501(c)(3) organization located in historic Pensacola, Florida, is the largest genealogical society in Northwest Florida. WFGS was founded in 1982 to promote knowledge of and stimulate interest in the study of genealogy.
New Meeting Time and Location:
The Society is now meeting on the first Saturday of every month (except July) at the main library downtown, 239 N. Spring St., Room B (1st Floor) at 10:30 a.m. unless otherwise publicized.
A brief business meeting is followed by a presentation of interest to the members. Guests are welcome!

No meeting in July - see you in August!
In the meantime, please enjoy genealogical content
from our Facebook page and the WFGS Blog.

Where is the Genealogy Collection Now?
All of the books that were in the stacks at the Genealogy are in the stacks at the downtown branch. Alan and his staff have been working for three weeks to get things set up for patron use. There are still some items that need to be placed -- but that will happen in the next few weeks.
The genealogy collection is on the second floor at the top of the stairs, across from the main desk, at the downtown However, the collection is still a work in progress, and therefore it isn't ready for patrons. Alan and his staff still have microfilm readers and other items that need to be set up for use.
The proposed date for opening the genealogy section is January 3rd. The surname files will be with all the genealogy information on the second floor. West Florida Genealogical Society needs volunteers to help with the "obituary binders" to ensure that copyright laws are not violated.

Local history pages of interest: Lots of photographs of old landmarks and stories from page members.
Be sure to set a timer when you get on these pages or you'll lose track of time!
