Florida Historic Cemetery Inventory
Cemeteries are one of the most under-recorded historic resources in our state. If you follow us on Facebook, you know that we have been working hard to record and identify historic cemeteries in our region. Why aren't these cemeteries already recorded with the State of Florida? Many times it is because they have been intentionally ignored, families have moved away, surrounding vegetation has moved in, or simply because they have always been in out-of-the-way locations.
If you want to help prevent disruption to historic burial sites, let us know about your local historic cemetery so that we can get it recorded! This data can then be shared with all county property appraisers so that buyers and developers know of the presence of a cemetery at the early stages of project planning.
