From the Library of Virginia (by way of the Kentucky Genealogical Society Facebook page): Digital images from 21 additional "Free Negro Registers" are now available in Virginia Untold! Click here for more.
Included are the following localities: Amherst County, Augusta County, Brunswick County, Campbell County, Fredericksburg City, Lynchburg City, Petersburg City, Rockbridge County, and York County.
This work is made possible by a National Historical Publications and Records Commission grant from the National Archives. We have full coverage from Petersburg City of the years in which free people were required to register in Virginia (1793-1865). All six volumes as well as registers from over 30 localities in Virginia have been digitized as a part of our Virginia Untold project.
